The Group

Our group focuses on the development of new methods for the synthesis of smart polymers and polymeric nanomaterials. We routinely exploit controlled radical polymerization strategies to produce polymeric materials with controlled architecture, molecular weight, dispersity and functionality. We subsequently seek to understand the self-assembly of polymeric materials into nanostructures where all properties can be controlled (e.g. size, shape, surface, core). Key to our strategy is to understand the fundamentals of polymerization mechanisms and allow facile access to the production of well-defined polymeric (nano) materials. Upon synthesis and/or self-assembly we can then target a range of applications in the material and biomedical field
